From the 22nd - 24th June 2012  Market Weighton Scout Group held a Family Camp at Scarborough district campsite, Birch Hall.

The camp was a great success for all those who took part from the families to the leadership team, we all had a great time and learnt some new skills along the way.

Once we had all arrived we had a flag break were Cindy welcomed everybody and introduced camp and the theme of Harry Potter to us all

The next thing was to divide everyone in to their house; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Out came the sorting hat and we were off, everyone took it in turns to sit with the sorting hat on and waited eagerly to see witch house they were in.

Now it was time to watch a film, have supper and go to bed!

On Saturday the Families were up and about and ready to start the day. First order of the day was breakfast witch was cooked by 3 lovely mums in the kitchen.

After breakfast we split into houses to do the four bases;

1st was Escape the Dark Lord with Greame

2nd was Quidditch with Ruppert

3rd was sweetie making with Miana and Lynne

4th was Build Hagrid house with Peter

When each house completed the bases it was time for dinner, which had been prepared by 3 lovely mums, before heading out for an adventure game to go around the camp collecting spells and making potions. Before they set off they were allowed into the wizards shop to buy items to help them along the way.

After all the spells and potions were made it was time to rest and relax before tea, as after tea was the Quidditch tournament between the houses and they finished;

1st Hufflepuff

2nd Slytherin

3rd Gryffindor

4th Ravenclaw

We had campfire and songs after Quidditch then once it was dark the children set off into the forbidden forest hunting for gnomes, which they really enjoyed doing but not all were found!!
